Stationery Selections - "2007 CALENDAR"
The 10th Anniversary Literary Calligraphy 2007 Calendar features 12 of Susan's most beloved images, taken from our first decade of calendars. You'll enjoy the entertaining quotes, literary birthdays, lunar phases, holidays, and other goodies interspersed throughout the calendar grid. Our 10th calendar is an economical way to enjoy Susan's past and current art. Each month features a different full-page image on the top, with a full-page monthly grid below (including past and future months) providing a perfect combination of beauty and utility. The 12" x 12" format opens to 12" x 24" -- large enough to display intricate detail and allow ample room for writing in important dates. Susan tells about the 2007 calendar: I am delighted to present our tenth anniversary Literary Calligraphy calendar for the year 2007, featuring favorite images from the previous calendars. The year begins with Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven...," which debuted in January 2001, where it was also the cover art for that calendar, whose theme was time. This Bible verse is clearly a favorite because of the way it expresses the passage of time, the change of seasons, and the ebb and flow of nature, lending comfort, patience, and understanding to generations of readers. I have returned to this verse time and again in much the same way that Monet returned to Rouen Cathedral or to haystacks. I have always painted it in a color wheel, which seems to perfectly reflect the change of seasons. February features "Love Is Patient," which first appeared in January 2000, with a special border that I created for that calendar. The theme of the 2000 calendar was love, and "Love Is Patient" was perfect for the cover. In honor of St. Patrick's Day, March brings back the traditional Irish Blessing, "May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back...," from March 2006 and on the cover of that calendar, which featured British and Irish writers. April gives a special presentation of Emily Dickinson"s "Flowers of Spring," which debuted in March 2005 and on the cover of that calendar, featuring American writers. May brings back "Pansy: Thoughts" from our first calendar, published in 1998 by Cedco Publishing, where it appeared in the November slot. June features "Shakespeare's Flowers of Summer," which first appeared in July 1999, also published by Cedco Publishing. July displays "The Language of Wild Flowers" with quotations from Thoreau's journal and essay on "Walking." This painting first appeared in December 2003 in the second of our language of flowers series calendars, named after my book, Flowers, the Angels' Alphabet. August shows "Mint: Virtue" from the 2002 Flowers, the Angels' Alphabet calendar. Filling the October slot in 2002 with a border that I created especially for that calendar, "Mint: Virtue" contains a quotation on virtue from German mystic, Jacob Boeme. September brings back Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken" for the fourth time. It first appeared in October 2001, again in October 2004, where it was on the cover of the Literary Leaves Calendar, and in September 2005 in the calendar featuring American writers. October expresses the spirit of this anniversary calendar with the opening lines from Robert Browning's poem, "Grow old along with me the best is yet to be!" "Autumn Crocus: Growing Old" first appeared in October 2003 with a special presentation repeated here. November features "Ivy: Friendship," with a line from Ralph Waldo Emerson's essay on "Friendship." "Ivy: Friendship" debuted in November 2002 with a border I created especially for that calendar. December introduces a new watercolor, "The Priestly Blessing," with the benediction from Numbers 6: 24, "The Lord bless thee, and keep thee..." lettered in English and Hebrew. This was my first attempt at Hebrew, and it was inspiring to study, read, and letter this ancient Bible verse in its original language. I like this blessing of protection and peace which I wish for you in the new year and always. Show me the PRODUCT LIST OPTIONS for "2007 Calendar"!
